It’s February, which means less than a month of summer left. Soon it’ll be seeya sunshine and hello dreary, depressing Melbourne weather. Chuck on your best hat and lap it up in the outdoors while you still can. Here are five of Melbourne’s sunniest places to enjoy a drink.
College Lawn Hotel
36 Greville St, Prahran
You can’t look past the beer garden at College Lawn for a sunny arvo sesh, especially when there’s an espresso martini special every Sunday. Move inside and dance to the live band when those espressos get you feeling extra giddy.
336 Burwood Rd, Hawthorn
If you’re feeling something no nonsense and a tad grungy, head to the beer garden out the back of Nevermind Bar. The drinks are cheap, the vibes are high and you can score a mean American-style feed.
96 Chapel St, Windsor
On account of the fact it’s hidden behind a sandwich shop, Jungle Boy is never overcrowded. This is very ideal when it’s 30 something degrees and sunny. The cocktails here are almost as fun as the jungle-themed décor, including a stuffed tiger.
Garden State Hotel
101 Flinders Ln, Melbourne CBD
Take beer-gardening to the next level at Garden State Hotel. There’s giant trees, lush greenery everywhere and fresh beer straight from the brewery. The award winning food is a just a little bonus (baked gnocchi anyone?!).
275 Exhibition St, CBD
Here we have Trunk, the bar with the biggest outdoor beer garden in the CBD. Thrilled yet? You will be when you hear about its 14 on tap beers, A-grade burger menu and drop dead gorgeous architecture. There’s also a 150 year old heritage listed tree throwing shade over the garden – sunburn avoided.
